Cool Beans! The stork that thinks it's a raptor or the raptor we think is a stork!
The scavenger you never see on a carcass (well, I haven't) and the bird you never see move its wings, yet it flies! The wonderful wonder of the birds' world! Now, if it was also a wren, it would be perfect, or not?
AH- how I miss the kettle of vultures that was a constant in the skies over our house in Ann Arbor. And we did see them on the dirt road- frequently. They used to sanitize themselves in the sun with their wings spread at the top of our 60 foot Norway Spruce (it's the key identifying feature if you're ever driving down Heatherway). Such a beneficial bird. To get a vulture fix I stop by and visit the cinereous vulture pair at the zoo- BIG!
Even with your disguise I recognized you and all I could think was "too bad BCMA (Book Club, My Ass) is not still meeting monthly. We could have used this woman!"
Jochen, it would be the world's biggest wren, wouldn't it? Not that there's anything wrong with that ....
Vicki - Have you ever been to Hinkley, OH, for the buzzard festival? Don and I keep planning to go, but never get past planning to doing. As for BCMA, the name alone sounds like my kind of gathering! Having read some of your past posts, they sound like a great group.

Hi Wren,
you sure the Ostrich isn't also related to Wrens?
Or the Albatwrens?
Sounds like the set up for a bird joke, Jochen:
What does an Albatwren (or Wrenrich) eat? Anything it wants ....
